the.everyday.adventurersSpace captures the imagination in so many ways. The sheer vastness. The seriously awe-inspiring nebulae, planets and stars. The chance of life elsewhere. The unique way it makes us feel utterly insignificant and sort of special, that by incomprehensible fluke, life began and evolved to the point it can talk about itself and wonder where it came from.
A tiny charity called Scopes4SEN is trying to bring the magic of space to children in the UK with Special Educational Needs by sending out free telescopes. Schools or home educating families in the UK raising children with SEN are eligible to apply, though the charity are currently very low on funding and desperately trying to spread awareness so they can keep sending out good quality equipment. If you would like to support this amazing work, links to their PayPal donation page can be found on their Instagram account — @scopes4sen . Or give them a Google. With a little clicking through their website, you can also find information about how to apply if your organisation or HE family would be eligible. Spread the word and let's get more scopes sent out! #scopes4sen #stem #steam#space #stemeducation#steamed #homeeducationuk#telescope Hello Patrick
Thank you so much for sending us the telescope! It arrived this morning and we have already been out tonight to use it! It has been fantastic fun spotting the stars and figuring out their names. We are really excited to see the moon when that is back out too. The children are so excited and we are now planning to visit some local areas where the skies will be darker so that we can learn more about the night sky. This is a fantastic gift of years of learning and adventure you have given our family as the children grow up, thank you so much to you and all the charity supporters. Best wishes Finlay family in County Durham! First Light Optics keeps donating telescopes to Scopes4SEN. This time we received a nice Sky-Watcher Skyhawk 1145P. We will find a nice home for this telescope.
